2014 was the biggest year yet for us. It started out on the road in SE Asia and ended with us getting engaged on New Year’s Eve at the Phish concert in Miami. A lot of stuff happened in between – we spent two entire months in Thailand, traveled from Hong Kong to our new home of Kunming over land, and explored Yunnan province. After a 14-month long trip, it was time to settle down for a bit – at least as close to settling down as us Gypsies like to get! Most of the second half of the year was spent living and working in Kunming, but of course we got out to take a few side trips as well. We’ve had a lot of good years, but 2014 is going to be hard to beat.
Backpacking on the Banana Pancake Trail, Summer in America,
China Travels, and a Phishy Engagement
The first half of 2014 was spent entirely on the Banana Pancake trail, traveling in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Indonesia. It was a trip full of adventure, culture, and naturally, plenty of raging.
Needing a break from Asia, we headed back to the States for a northern Michigan vacation, baseball games, Phish shows, and our first American music festival in three years. Then it was back in China for a few more weeks of travel before settling into our new home of Kunming. The year wound down back at home for Christmas and in Miami for a Phishy engagement.
