ESL stands for “English as a Second Lanuage” so this section of the site is devoted to teaching English both abroad and online.
Teaching English has opened us up to opportunities we never knew existed. In 2010 we were down and out unable to find jobs and needing food stamps to feed ourselves. After a string of unfortunate events that you can read on our about page, we decided to cut our losses and head to the Far East to teach English in China.
Fast forward a couple of years – now we’re living a location independent lifestyle where we have the freedom to live and travel where we want thanks to taking that first step.
Our #1 goal with this website is to show you how you can do the same.
From this page, you’ll find all of our content about teaching English. Whether you’re interested in teaching abroad in a new country or teaching online to travel and live where you want, we’ve got you covered.
Feel free to contact us if there’s something else you’re looking for. We’re happy to help!

Teaching English abroad is rewarding in so many ways. Not only can you immerse yourself in another culture but it can open up a world of travel opportunities. Sasha moved to China to teach English in 2008 and then we moved there together in 2010. We would have never been able to do so much traveling around Asia if we hadn’t been living on that side of the world. We’ve interviewed several other teachers to hear all about their experiences in places such as Thailand, Cambodia, Oman, and Kazakhstan.
Teaching English online is what allowed us to become digital nomads and start traveling full time. It’s still our main source of income. We truly believe that it is the fastest way to achieve a life of more freedom for yourself. If you’ve thought about teaching online as a way to help you earn money so you can travel more often and for longer, this content it for YOU! We have a FREE guide for the action takers ready to get started now. Click here to tell us where to send it. If you’re not quite sure yet, browse around and see if it’s for you.
After Sasha graduated from college at Michigan State (go green!) he wasn’t exactly thrilled with his job prospects and he was craving an adventure. So he moved to China. Logical, right?! If you’ve read our about page then you know we met just a mere one month before he left. After a year he came back, we went on Phish tour, then we moved to China together in 2010. We stayed until 2015 so we know just how hard it is to move to the other side of the world. This section of the site, we aim to provide insight and advice on making the big move to China – from getting a job and visa, to securing accommodation, to daily life, the goal is to help people get ready for and adjust to life in China.
